BOOK CLUB

What's This?

This is The Lit blog's Book Club.

Every month two of my friends and I choose a new book to all read and review together. It brings a social aspect to what commonly is a solo event.

My friends and I recognize that reading not only makes you a stronger critical thinker, but also helps with the language that one might use in their writing.

I like to inform you guys what my trinity is reading this month, so that maybe you might join in if it suits you. Don't worry though, no spoilers here.

This month we are reading "Swimming Lessons" by Claire Fuller. This is Fuller's second book that she has gotten published, it costs about $20 dollars from Chapters. The back of the book reads:

Ingrid Coleman writers letters to her husband, Gil, about the truth of their marriage, but she never sends them. Instead she hides them within the thousands of books her husband has collected. After she writer her final letter, she disappears.

Twelve years later, her adult daughter, Flora come home to look after her injured father. Secretly, Flora has never believed that her mother is dead, and she starts asking questions, without realizing that the answers she's looking for are hidden in the books that surround her.

I personally am only a few chapters into this suspense/mystery novel but am thoroughly enjoying it. There seems so far to be a challenge in the voices of the characters, but Fuller uses elegant prose that makes the book to be an entertaining read. I look forward to learning more about the world Fuller has smoothly created. From what I have read thus far, I would recommend the book to other reads who are looking for a book of this genre.

More word of this book will be coming soon. Make sure you check this page if you would like to learn more!
